Happy Earth Day!

Our Vallejo Poets Laureate Kathleen Herrmann and Jacalyn Eyvonne will be reading at the Earth Daze Festival in Vallejo on Saturday, April 27th from 12:15 to 1:00 PM. They will also be participating in the Climate Change Ekphrastic Exhibit, Temple Arts Loft, May 25, June 1, 8, 15, 22 from 1:00-2:00 PM.

Here’s a little more background information about this grant-funded exhibit:

“The project will engage seven local artists representing diverse backgrounds and artistic
disciplines, including visual arts, performance art, and multimedia. These talented
individuals, renowned for their environmental activism and dedication to social justice,
have been selected for their ability to use their art as a catalyst for change. With a
strong commitment to collaboration and amplifying marginalized voices, the participating
artists will create thought-provoking and impactful works of art that reflect the unique
challenges facing our region.”

D.L. Lang contributed a line to the “Dear Human” poem from Paloma Press. Below is the “Dear Human” Earth Day video in partnership with Wick Poetry Center at Kent State University, Poets for Science, David Hassler, Aileen Cassinetto, Kate Semmens, Nurture Nature Center, AGU Science and Society Section, WE ACT, and EarthDay.org.

Vallejo Poetry Society was founded in 2018 by Erika Snyder, Daniel Badiali, and D.L. Lang to serve as a resource for local poets. We encourage you to join our mailing list and follow us on social media for the most up to date event announcements, networking with other poets, and publication opportunities.
