The Benicia First Tuesday Poets was founded in 2003 and meets on the first Tuesday of the month at the Benicia Library’s Dona Benicia Room. The Benicia First Tuesday Poets open mic is hosted by the Benicia Poet Laureate. Benicia’s 9th poet laureate is Kathy Monroe. There are many other poetry events in Benicia from ekphrastic collaborations to a love poetry contest.
